Each year, The Ames Tribune presents a special award to a group of Mid-Iowans they call "Unsung Heroes." Nominations for this honor come from the Ames community and are selected by a panel of volunteers. Heroes were formally recognized Monday, June 6 at the Ames Noon Rotary meeting. In this year's group of heroes is our own Don Broshar, State 4-H Youth Development Specialist. In Don's profile it states, "Don has made it his life's work to improve and strengthen the sometimes-frayed lines of communication between adults and youth." George Belitsos, the chief executive officer for Youth and Shelter Services is quoted, "Don has become the premier youth advocate across the state of Iowa for community youth development." Please join me in celebrating Don's special recognition.
